Listowel 4-3 Tralee Dynamos

A battling Dynamos team went down 4-3 in against title chasing Listowel in an entertaining fixture earlier today. Dynamos, due to a long injury list, started 4 of their 17′s team, with Dylan o Shea and David o Connor making their full debuts.
Dynamos went in 2 up at half time with O connor, starting in midfield, scoring his first senior goal having rounded the keeper and slotting into the empty net. Danny Roche got the second with a fierce low drive into the bottom left corner. Listowel didn’t have much to complain about(apart from some refereeing decisions) as Dynamos dominated the first half.
Unfortunately for Dynamos, they lost their midfield general, James Sugrue, to a hamstring injury and he didn’t start the second half.
Listowel piled on the pressure in the second half, but had a dubious penalty decision go their way to make it 2-1. They got their second five minutes later after across from the right, that clearly had gone out of play lead to a tap in at the back post.
Listowel got their third from a free kick from outside the box.
Dynamos pressed forward in the last 10 minutes for the equaliser and were unlucky to concede against the run of play. They did however get their deserved third goal from a corner with seconds left on the clock.
It was great to see the mix of youth and experience on the pitch together putting in a very good performance.

Overall a scoreline that doesn’t do justice to the efforts of a Dynamos team who recalled a number of players. Credit to each one of the Dynamos players for their efforts in what is a difficult time for the seniors.

Killarney Athletic who top the table extending their lead tonight to 4 from Fenit and 6 ahead of Killarney Celtic and LIstowel Celtic with those sides having a game in hand.

The balance of possession was pretty equal for both sides both having spells of dominance in the game. The big talking point of the game was the opening goal for Athletic in the 33rd minute when the Dynamos line confidently called for offside but match official waved play on for Athletic to score despite the protestations of the Dynamos team and bench.

Half time the scoreline was 1 nil in favour of Athletic but Dynamos had enough play to suggest that they might get some thing from the game.

Dynamos had a huge chance with a James Sugrue cross into the box controlled by Roche 6 yards from goal and some how keeper Quill saved. Athletic got their 2nd goal on the 70th minute when a shot from distance was parried into path of the Athletic striker who slotted to the net.

The game seems to lose its spark from here with few chances created by either side with probably Jamie Doolan’s effort from 30 yards clipping the crossbar the best.

Athletic completed the scoring with the very last kick of the game to claim a well deserved victory. Dynamos with 3 games remaining will have a say in where the title goes with home games against Fenit & Kenmare and meet Listowel Celtic away.

Listowel Celtic 0 Tralee Dynamos 3

Congrats to our young Dynamos side who put in a top class performance this evening in Tanavalla.

Dynamos had the greater share of possession in the 1st half creating some really good chances. Midfield duo of David O’Connor and Sean Foley determined the trend of the game getting the ball down and playing a really good possession game. Junior Ankomah replaced David in the second half with Sean keeping Dynamos on the front foot througout.

Half time the sides were level at 0-0 with Dynamos slightly disappointed that they hadn’t got something to show for their efforts.

Dynamos opened the scoring in the 2nd half with a spectacular goal from David Couchman after really good work down the right flank by Tennyson Efegbare who got past his man passing a diagonal forward ball into Leo Gaxha on the edge of the box. As the ball was travelling towards Leo he got a call from Couchman looking for a setup pass that Leo duly obliged with and from there just the quality of the strike there was only one outcome with Couchmans shots hitting the top left hand corner of the net.

To be fair to Mark Loughnanes side they had a share of play in the final 3rd but great defending from Aaron Dewey and man of the match Eddie Galvin and with keeper Dylan O’Shea in fine form they denied Listowel time and time again.

Dynamos scored their second with a lot of good work from Adi Cenali setting up Leo Gaxha whose close control inside the box creating space for himself he rifled to the net to make it 0-2 Dynamos with a couple of minutes left.

Tony Duggan completed the scoring with a fantastic individual goal getting on the ball on the left wing just inside the Listowel half where he won a 50-50 ball with his opponent where his drive and determination saw him win another 40-60 challenge from the 2nd challenge before he gathered his composure to side foot to the net from a really tight angle for a great individual goal.

SQUAD: Dylan O’Shea, Ronan Lucey, Aaron Dewey, Eddie Galvin, Tony Duggan, Tennyson Efegbare, David O’Connor, Sean Foley, Ozaz Odiahi, David Couchman, Adi Cenali, Ronan Lucey, Leo Gaxha, Junior Ankomah, Nemanja Samardzic.
