Tralee dynamos KDL

Ballyheigue 2 – 4 Tralee Dynamos.

The senior team picked up another valuable 3 points on their travels this weekend away to ballyheigue. This was not as easy a win as the score line suggests, in fact we were behind as early as the 2nd minute when a through ball was latched onto by the ballyheigue forward who cooly dispatched it to the net. We responded in the best fashion as within 5 minutes we were level. Maurice o Rahilly won the ball in midfield and fed Jamie McIntyre who after beating 2 players slipped the ball to Jason Fitzgerald who gave the keeper no chance. For the next 20 minutes the game was end to end with ballyheigue creating quite a few chances but the back 4 of Robson Mugabe, Pa Daly, Jonaton Burrows and the outstanding Moss Hogan stood firm and even when this line was breached there was no way past the ever reliable Del o Shea in goal. We took the lead 15 minutes before the break, Ross o connor picked up the loose ball and fed Brian Fitzgerald who switched the play with a superb ball to Ashton Mugabe who took on his man and gave an inch perfect cross for Jason fitzgerald to volley home. This score line was a bit harsh on ballyheigue and it was to get worse 5 minutes before the break when Maurice o Rahilly played a nice 1-2 with Ashton Mugabe and produced an amazing cross which split the 2 centre backs and landed perfectly on the head of Ross o Connor who seemed to hang in the air like a salmon jumping up stream and his bullet header could not be stopped. At half time we were pleased with the score but not with the performance. Our 4th goal came within 5 minutes of the re-start, the ballyheigue keeper played a quick kick out, Ross o  connor and Ashton Mugabe stole the ball, played a 1-2 and put in Maurice o Rahilly who ran tirelessly all day and his reverse pass was finished to the net by Jason fitzgerald who completed his hat-trick. We were totally on top at this stage and kept the ball for long periods with max, Maurice and Frankie all going close. We got a scare late on when ballyheigue got a second 10 minutes from the end and straight from the kick off they won back possession and put their forward through one on one only for Niall Feehen to come from nowhere with a superb last ditch tackle. That was ballyheigues last chance as we comfortably saw out the last few minutes. A very pleasing result and we would like to thank ballyheigue for their hospitality and sportsmanship as the game was played in the best spirit.

Under 19 match report by Shane Carey

Tralee Dynamos made the long journey to Galway Saturday night in search of 3 points, to maintain their title challenge.
Dynamos started brightly and immediatly had Galway under pressure. Dynamos’ pressure told just minutes later when Adam Piggot fizzed a great ball across the 6 yard box and Darren O’Brien was on hand to turn the ball in.
Half way through the first half Galway equalised but, it wasnt long before Dynamos took the lead again with Piggot blasting home from just inside the box.
Dynamos went into the break 2-1 up and looked to add to this lead in the second half. Again Dynamos started well with Adam Piggot cutting in from the left and rattling the cross-bar with Aaron Houlihan on hand to turn in the rebound.
Soon after both teams were reduced to 10 men. Galway grabbed a second goal as they put Dynamos under pressure late on in the second half. It was backs to the wall stuff for Dynamos as they looked to see out the game. Then after a mazy run from Danny Roche, taking it around 4 players he was hauled down in the penalty area with Uros Ivkovic cooly slotting home.

Paul White, Shane Carey, Jonathan Hannafin, Wayne Duggan, Donnacha McGarry, Adam Piggot (Ger McCarthy), Aaron Houlihan, Uros Ivkovic, Ian McCarthy, Danny Roche Darren O’Brien (Nigel O’Connor).

A match that left our team manager and players’ blood boiling with passion. Another demonstration of our boys doing the talking on the pitch. Despite strong and vocal local supporters cheering their team on, tralee dynamos U-19 battled with a very competitive Galway side.

“Credits to Galway’s young manager Alan Murphy who really knows how to get the best out of his players.” said Tralee Dynamos’ manager Noel White.

Now 5 wins out of 5. 20 goals in the process. Tralee Dynamos are really gunning for the U-19 championship.
