UNDER 12 PREMIER: Killarney Celtic 1 Kingdom Boys 1
Ken O’Connor writes;
Kingdom Boys returned from Killarney today with a hard fought and well deserved point after a superb display against a strong Killarney side.
Kingdom Boys had a lightening start and pressured Killarney from the start with Dillon Robinson firing over the bar after a well worked free kick from just outside the 18 yard area. It wasn’t long before the Boys efforts were rewarded by what can only be described as a ‘World Class’ finish from Dan Goggin to put them 1-0 up. Dan received the ball some 30 yards out and jinked past two of the four defenders surrounding him. He then fired a superb low drive into the bottom right corner of the net leaving the Killarney keeper helpless. The Boys kept on pressuring the Killarney goal but lacked their usual accurate finishing and the score remained 1-0 at half time.
Killarney came back into the game in the second half, narrowly missing an equaliser after a good move down the left saw a low drive skimming the outside of the post with the keeper beaten. Half way through the half Killarney got a deserved equaliser when the Boys failed to clear a corner and a low short was deflected into the back of the net. Keeper Sean Duggan made a great one handed save shortly afterwards to keep the sides level. Five minutes from time Dillon Robinson burst through the Killarney defence only to be denied by a fantastic save from the Killarney keeper.
A point each was the final result but the Boys were unlucky not to have snatched all 3 and will relish the return fixture back on home turf!!
